Job Summary:
A Senior Datastage Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data integration solutions using IBM DataStage. They work closely with data architects, business analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure that data is extracted, transformed, and loaded accurately and efficiently. This role requires expertise in DataStage, data warehousing concepts, and strong SQL skills.
Key Responsibilities:
ETL Solution Development: Design, develop, and implement ETL processes using IBM DataStage to extract data from source systems, transform it, and load it into target data warehouses or databases.
Data Mapping: Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to understand data requirements, create data mapping documents, and ensure alignment with business needs.
Performance Optimization: Optimize ETL jobs for performance and scalability, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or performance issues in data integration processes.
Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks, error handling, and data reconciliation mechanisms to ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the ETL pipeline.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of ETL processes, data mappings, and job schedules for reference and auditing purposes.
Testing: Conduct unit testing and integration testing of ETL jobs to ensure they meet specifications and business requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Datastage Developer, with a strong understanding of ETL concepts and practices.
Proficiency in IBM DataStage or similar ETL tools.
Strong SQL skills for data manipulation and transformation.
Knowledge of data warehousing principles and methodologies.
Experience with data modeling and data mapping.
Scripting and automation skills may be required for complex ETL processes.
Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
